About the authors
Dr Fenella Corrick WP-C
Dr Corrick is the Medical Officer for Assynt Mountain Rescue in Scotland.
The team provides search and rescue cover for Caithness and Sutherland an area of around 75002km or 46602miles, that’s about 4½ times bigger than Greater London!
They are the most Northerly mainland Scottish Mountain Rescue Team in the United Kingdom and are made up entirely of volunteers.

Dr Tom Mallinson WP-C
Dr Mallinson is a senior lecturer in Remote Paramedic Practice and a prehospital doctor. He began his career in London, undertaking the IHCD Paramedic qualification alongside a bachelor’s degree in Paramedic Science at the University of Hertfordshire. After working as a paramedic for the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, as a Critical Care Paramedic undertaking Level 3 interhospital transfers for a transfer service and as a CBRN operative. He went on to attend Warwick Medical School to read Medicine.
Dr Mallinson has continued his studies with postgraduate qualifications in healthcare education, wilderness medicine and primary care. He has published primary research and a range of educational resources for prehospital clinicians.
